Lumos Infinitas USA, inc is a technology startup company engaged in optical sensing business. The Irvine, Orange county, CA site is looking for a senior photonic engineer to design the free space optics to couple infrared light between integrated photonic chips, such as laser, SOA, silicon photonic chips, and fibers.

The scope of the responsibilities include,

1. Design free space optics (various lens) to couple light from laser, SOA bare die to silicon photonic chips

2. Design free space optics to couple light from silicon photonic chip, and expand the beam to large-diameter collimated beam for scanning

3. Design optical edge coupler on silicon photonic chip to facilitate beam expanding using lens

4. Design mode and optical edge coupler on silicon photonic chip for optimal coupling to fibers

5. Other passive components on Silicon Photonic chip platform such as grating couplers, 1x2 and 2x2 MMI coupler, and 90 °hybrid

Qualifications and skills

a. Ph.D (or Master) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline with emphasis on optics, and integrated photonics

b. Direct experience in optical design using common software such as Zemax OpticStudio, Code V, or FRED Optical Engineering Software

c. Familiar with integrated photonics component design software such as Lumerical Mode/EME/FDTD, Rsoft, or Optiwave OptiFDTD.

Pay: $88,000.00 - $156,547.00 per year
