Highly motivated and experienced Human Factors/HMI professional, who will be responsible for designing next generation physical Human Machine Interface for Freightliner and Western Star vehicles including diesel, fuel cell, and battery electric along with conventional and autonomous powered commercial vehicles. They will ensure solutions meet user and customer needs by researching use cases, application needs & customer requirements, performing task analysis, conception, user testing and supporting implementation.

  • Position offers a starting salary range of $98,500 - $126,000 USD
    Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You Drive at DTNA
  • Provide design input on new dash and cab interior designs to ensure maximum usability
  • Manage the Switch and Gauge configuration process for all DTNA Products. Ensure all products are built with dash layouts that meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Lead a cross functional team (Cab, Vocational, Calc-ECF, CPE-Mexico) to set-up and maintain the S&G System
  • Lead cross-functional team designing and implementing the next generation Switch and Gauge system
  • Drive innovation by leading Best-in-Class designs for switches, gauges, controls and displays through intuitive functional design
  • Perform or commission research to support concept development, usability, user acceptance, driver distraction. Surveys, task analysis, qualitative task performance evaluation, eye-tracking
  • Support Daimler production facilities
  • Ability to drive innovation and demonstrate technical leadership.
  • Responsible for complex projects and tasks as a technical lead or as project team consultant.
  • Uses analytical thought to independently solve complex problems with minimal guidance and identify solutions
  • May lead team or department projects or work streams within broader projects
  • Acts as an advisor to management and key external stakeholders on job field related projects
  • Acts as a resource and guide for colleagues with less experience
  • Uses experience to contribute to standards in which others will operate
Knowledge You Should Bring
  • Human Factors or Engineering degree and 5-7 years relevant experience.
  • At least 1 year of group lead, project lead, and or mentoring experience required.
  • Must have a class A commercial drivers license (CDL) or the willingness to get one
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
  • Master’s degree in Human Factors or similar is Preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in job field and working knowledge of Human Factors/HMI.
  • Understanding of the commercial vehicle landscape including usage and requirements
