Required Qualifications:
- High school graduation or the equivalent with some science courses and two years of experience in relevant academic and work experience may be substituted.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a swine farm.
- Knowledge of principles and techniques used in breeding and managing sows, in particular data collection and reporting.
- Understanding and experience with Excel, elementary statistics and preferably a database program.
- Experience handling data and writing/revising technical documents.
- Demonstrated/documented ability to multitask in a high paced work environment.
Duties:
(40%)Independently follows established procedures or protocols to perform data collection, data monitoring and data analysis for the National PRRS and PED incidence studies. Develops and provides a weekly summary and reports to all study participants and study observers.
(50%)Through excellent organizational skills, the individual will maintain accurate data records, write protocols for new data collection and data storage procedures, and keep existing protocols up to date. Operates computers for data entry and analysis.
(5%) Assist with animal experiments and farm trips as time permits. Uses universal safety precautions to protect self and co-workers form injury while on farm and exposure to bio hazardous materials, including blood-borne pathogens.
(5%) Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Hourly Rate $20 - $23.46
