SUMMARY

The Senior Health Information Technician is responsible for reviewing the patient's medical record and gathering information for the completion of the records using a prescribed set of criteria, and refers the record to the appropriate resource when the criteria is not met. The technician is knowledgeable about regulatory standards, appropriate hospital policies and medical staff rules & regulations that pertain to medical record completion and Release of Information. The Sr. Health Info Tech provides guidance and support to medical staff on how to navigate the electronic medical record, is versed in medical terminology, and demonstrates optimal interpersonal skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• One year of experience in medical record department is preferred.
• Must possess the ability to sort and file documents in alphabetical and numerical order, good interpersonal skills, including good telephone etiquette, and the ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
• Data entry skills are preferred.
• Must reside in the state of Georgia
