SUMMARY PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for coordination of complex and multi-disciplined engineering projects from concept thru implementation to delivering results.
- Coordinates all work within the scope of assigned projects to ensure objectives in terms of quality, cost, and time are met.
- Follows the structure of Pella’s Safety, Quality, Project Management & Continuous Improvement Systems from concept through project execution and results.
- Approves product/process design and prepares engineering documents; such as cost estimates, appropriation requests, projects schedules, design specifications, instruction specifications, purchase requisitions, operating manuals, and technical reports.
- Assures that contracts are awarded to the outside vendors that offer the best value and appropriate quality.
- Responsible for effective communication of engineering information among team members and stakeholders.
- May supervise assigned technical team members and coordinates their work within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
- A constant learner who serves as an expert resource across the organization, providing technical information, and engineering recommendations that influence projects and business imperatives.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and implement the construction of new and existing facilities and major facilities improvements. Facilities improvements include buildings, electrical systems, HVAC systems, water and sewer, fire protection systems, security systems, grounds, roads, parking and other building improvements.
- Manage and implement the construction of major manufacturing infrastructure systems. Major manufacturing infrastructure systems include compressed air, sawdust collection, electrical distribution and other systems.
- Lead maintenance processes to support maintenance and repair of existing building/manufacturing infrastructure systems and troubleshoot key manufacturing equipment utilizing the Pella Maintenance Process.
- Implement energy conservation and other projects to support sustainability initiatives. Provides functional expertise related to mechanical, electrical, and compressed air systems, building construction and renovation, and risk management/building conservation.
Supervisory responsibilities: May manage exempt and hourly employees
Work hours: Normal + irregular hours/shifts required
Travel expectations: Low to moderate dependant on role & project assignments
Computer skills: Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD required
Technical / functional skills: Identified as technology owner and expert. Apply building management infrastructure and construction knowledge; project management and prioritization.
Safety: Periodically exposed to machinery where safe operating procedures must be followed, occasional lifting of materials up to 30 lbs. is required, work environment may be noisy.
Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Pella CI Team Leader Certificate
Leadership competencies: Establish plans, Apply technical and functional expertise, Manage and improve processes, Build relationships, Foster collaboration, Establish plans, Drive execution, Industry knowledge and exercise seasoned judgment.
EXPERIENCE:
7+ years combined engineering experience within 2-3 disciplines (Process, Product, CI, Quality, Plant). Multi-divisional and multi-site experience recommended. Desire and skill set to pursue management path.
EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Math, or relevant Science or combination of education and experience.
- Masters Degree preferred in Engineering, Math, relevant Science or Business Administration.
