Position summary: JMT Technology Group, a leading geospatial and information technology services and solutions provider, has an opening for a senior data scientist. This individual will report to the Hunt Valley office but will virtually support a customer in the DC area.

Essential functions and responsibilities

• Perform analysis on large datasets and generate products that meet customer needs while complying with organization guidelines and standards
• Define analysis procedures based on unique aspects of the data and identify application limitations
• Statistically assess datasets for usefulness based on customer needs and intended application
• Accurately query and interpret databases using relational database techniques and statistical procedures
• Assess available organization data and its value to current and future projects. Use data mining techniques to explore the value of derivative products to support programs.
• Research, generate, and statistically evaluate composite datasets
• Design, develop, maintain, and populate databases to support and enhance the analysis needs of customer and partner organizations
• Perform database development tasks of medium to high complexity across multiple projects
• Perform complex data migrations (ETL)
• Generate scripts and tools to enhance data access
• Summarize and communicate analytical results using charts, spreadsheets, maps, and other graphic methods to effectively convey complex data
• Develop comprehensive business intelligence reports using Power BI and/or Tableau
• Conduct quality reviews of data from various sources; document data anomalies and communicate to customer
• Collaborate with team to prepare high-quality deliverables
• Support production systems as urgent and critical issues arise
• Maintain and manage detailed records of procedures, standards, and protocols used in the completion of tasks

Nonessential functions and responsibilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in data science, computer science, information technology, or related fields
• 8+ years of experience developing data/database systems and performing data assessments and analysis
• 8+ years of programming experience
• 2+ years of experience working with SAS and R or other statistical programs

Preferred Experience

• 2+ years of experience with Power BI and Tableau
• Experience with a variety of databases and ETL solutions

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general hybrid office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
