Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a Tier 1 vendor for TVA and we are recruiting for a, Senior Asset and Contract Management Specialist, for a 4-6 month contract assignment supporting the downtown Chattanooga office. This position will work remote, with exception to the occasional onsite meeting in Chattanooga, Knoxville, Nashville, or other TVA location.
  • Target start date: 06/19/23
  • Target W2 Pay Rate: Up to $54.28/hour (time and a half for overtime)
  • Duration: 4 - 6 months for maternity leave

Responsibilities:
  • Managing short/long- term power agreements with other utilities, marketers, and Independent Power Producers (IPP’s) to maximize return to TVA, to ensure the adequacy and reliability of power supply for the TVA power system and to balance the power supply for TVA’s bulk power marketing initiatives.
  • Management of TVA’s Dispersed Power Production program (DPP).
  • Obtaining of Board approval for any revisions and yearly avoided cost updates in the DPP Guidelines.
  • Management of aspects to put new Co-generation/Small Power Producers (CSPPs) in place with co-generators in accordance with guidelines and the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act (PURPA).
  • Managing long-term power purchase agreements such as the Red Hills Power Project, distributor generations such as Powell Valley, Bolivar, McMinnville, etc. and CSPPs).
  • Managing market-based electricity products and distributed generation products/programs with distributors, directly served customers, and distributor served industrial customers to maximize revenue and supplement system purchases.
  • Interface with Energy Trading operations personnel to maximize the value of existing power deals.
  • Manages contracts associated with internal products, such as buyback, economic suspensions, market day (market pricing), etc.
  • Interfacing with Counterparties, Office of the General Councel, and Finance in the development of contracts/ensuring compliance with contractual arrangements.
  • Advising internal TOPS and ET personnel relative to potential long-term deals to ensure efficiency and to maximize the value to TVA.
  • Reviewing contracts/confirmation letters and summarizes various features and options included in the contracts for use by ET operations and system operations. Ensuring compliance with TVA policies and guidelines.
  • Developing methods and tracks individual power deals/products to ensure that the terms and conditions are met. This would include price, daily or hourly scheduling, notice of changes, and other provisions.
  • Working with interchange account managers to make sure that the MWs, price and revenue are recorded correctly.
  • May serve on teams or committees and attend industry conferences for information/studies that may impact Power Origination.
  • Developing/Maintaining Power Originations’ Marketing Plan and assisting in the development/maintenance of TVA’s Strategic Plan.
  • Provides input to Customer Resources in the development and implementation of new energy products and pricing structures.
  • Providing input to feasibility studies such as RTO participation as well as industry change impacts to CO&P.
  • Providing input to new internal/external product innovations of existing products to meet customer and TVA requirements and the design of tactical plans to deploy new products to generate future energy purchases and sales for internal/external trade counterparties.
  • Manage and update assigned Trading Strategy, Analysis/Contracts operating processes and procedures.
  • Responsible for other accountabilities required to meet CO&P and organizational objectives.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, finance, engineering or related field. An MBA is desirable.
  • 5-7 years’ experience dealing with energy/power contracts, long term complex binding agreements, or other legal instruments and obligations.
  • Extensive contract management skills and an understanding of trading/power system operations, including dispatch and transmission scheduling.
  • Ability to create, evaluate, structure, and execute the pricing and terms for sale, purchase, and/or brokering of power.
  • Understanding of brokering and financial instruments.
  • Effective personal interaction oral and written communication and negotiating skills.
