The Wilson School District is looking for a certified School Psychologist for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. We offer a competitive hiring salary.

Our hiring salary is $70,000.00 to $90,000.00 per year based on experience. Other possible payment (if eligible) $3,000 for National Board-Certified Teacher, $1,500 for BLE, $1,000 for ESL, $500 for Prov ESL.

The primary role of the School Psychologist is to enable students to derive the fullest possible benefit from their educational experience by participating in school level efforts to identify special needs students, providing diagnostic services to students identified by school staff or community agencies and by providing either direct or indirect treatment when appropriate to help students overcome conditions and behaviors that impede their academic and/or interpersonal growth. This job reports to Assigned Administrator

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and place eligible special education students. Provide psychological and other testing to assist in placements and program design.
  • Generate and maintain S.E. documents supporting placement, program design and psychoeducational evaluations. Maintain psychological files in compliance with IDEA and 504 and state regulations.
  • Consultation and counseling for identified SE students.
  • Assist with program modifications and behavioral plans for regular education students. Observation, direct staff, and student contact, assist with writing of modified programs, behavioral contracts, and reinforcement schedules.
  • Assist CST with the assessment and screening of referred students. Perform academic, perceptual, and behavioral assessments and/or observe, call prior schools, review records.
  • Facilitate referrals to community medical and mental health personnel. Telephone interviews, letter generation, attend outside staffing and parent consultations.
  • Consult with parents for crisis situations regarding their children. Telephone contacts, staffing, counseling sessions.
  • Facilitate effective special education program design and implementation, (e.g., special needs preschool, District Crisis Plan, Non-violent Crisis Intervention and SST/MDC).

Other Functions:

  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Arizona certificate as a school psychologist and recorded with Maricopa County School Superintendent.
  • Master's Degree required
  • A comprehensive knowledge of special education students’ needs and special education programs.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

PREFFERED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Arizona certificate as a school psychologist and recorded with Maricopa County School Superintendent.
  • Master's Degree required
  • A comprehensive knowledge of special education students’ needs and special education programs.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives; managing multiple departments; supervising the use of funds for multiple departments. Utilization of significant resources from other work units is routinely required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to significantly impact the organization’s services. Work Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, , and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 50% sitting, 30% walking, and 20% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.

Wilson, a school board member. The district name was changed in the mid-1930’s to Hawkins School. From Wilson to Hawkins to Ward to Skiff, the District was bought by Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and relocated to its current location in the early 1980’s and named Wilson Primary and Wilson Elementary, opening on Martin Luther King Day in 1985. The district boundaries cover an area from Roosevelt Street to the north; the Salt River to the south; 40th Street to the east; and 16th Street to the west.
