Exciting Opportunity to Work For San Bernardino County!
The Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Management Division, is recruiting for Scale Operators who operate a platform scale, classify waste material, and determine and collect waste disposal fees at County disposal sites.

Immediate
vacancies exist in Big Bear and Running Springs , candidates willing to work in these locations are especially encouraged to apply. Part-time positions located in Rialto and Victorville are also available. This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies throughout the County.

Candidates are typically assigned to a main location but may be assigned to any disposal site within the County based on department needs. Applicants must indicate their willingness to work varying locations on the supplemental questionnaire.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Availability: Positions are subject to emergency call backs and will be assigned to various work locations throughout the County without advance notice. Incumbents will be scheduled for rotating shifts, which include weekends and holidays, and must be available for overtime as needed by the Division. Interested candidates must indicate availability on the application and in the Supplemental Questionnaire.

Travel: A valid California Class C driver license is required at time of appointment and must be maintained. Employees in this class are required to use their personal vehicles and must show proof of automobile liability insurance. Employees are compensated in accordance with County and department policies for mileage incurred during the course of work. Employees will be required to drive in extreme weather conditions and to various disposal sites.

Assignment: Candidate must be willing to accept assignments at any disposal site within the County.
Physical: Employees regularly walk, stand, bend, squat and occasionally work near equipment on rough, uneven, rocky or slippery surfaces. Employees are exposed to dust, vehicle emissions, noise, odors and extremes in temperature and humidity.
Pre-Employment Process: Incumbents must successfully pass a physical, background check, and drug test prior to appointment.

Minimum Requirements

Experience: One (1) year of cashiering or bookkeeping experience (full-time equivalent), which includes extensive public contact.

-AND-

Shift: Must be available to work rotating shifts; indicate availability on the application and in the Supplemental Questionnaire.

Desired Qualifications

Candidates with computer skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook and file management experience are highly desired.
