Primary Function
Support and assist in the implementation of policies related to workplace safety; including employee safety training, root cause accident investigation, job safety and hazard analysis, ergonomics, and physical audits.
General Responsibilities
All employees are responsible for the quality of their work. If quality standards or expectations cannot be met, the employee responsible for the work is required to notify the supervisor of that area immediately.
Tools and Equipment
Testing equipment for fire, air, environment, noise, vision, and ergonomic factors
Gauges to measure push and pull force
Radio and pager for emergencies
Basic hand tools
Computer and keyboard
Material
Material Safety Data Sheets, OSHA handbooks, Plant Layouts, and Division Safety Handbook
Training/ Licensing Requirements, Accident investigation training, OSHA training, Material Safety Data Sheets training, Hazardous Materials Training, First Responder's training, Administrator, Aerial lift license, and burden vehicle license.
Essential Functions
Requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals and fractions; use simple adjustable measuring devices; read simple drawings; interpret production schedules and inspection reports.
Training is required for six months up to and including 2 years.
Requires the ability to plan and perform unusual and difficult work where only general methods are available, and the making of decisions involving the use of considerable judgment and initiative.
Requires little physical effort. Continuous lifting or material up to 1 pound or frequent lifting up to 5 lbs., or occasional lifting of 5 - 35 lbs.
Requires mental and visual attention of a normal degree intermittently, due to breaks in the work routine which require little or no attention.
Assisting with non standardized work.
Probable damage would seldom exceed $2000.
Requires total safety, since accidents to others may result in total disability or death.
Require only occasional instruction of other people, such as breaking in a new operator.
Presenting Safety Compliance Training
Speaking in front of large groups.
Working Procedure
Ensure continuous safety operations among all departments
Conduct near miss and accident investigations to identify root cause
Perform trend analysis to determine and eliminate risks of injury and illness
Perform job safety and hazard analysis, review with employees and address questions
Respond appropriately to all safety and environmental concerns from internal and external customers
Complete safety audits for the Division and departments, utilizing various audit techniques
Maintain necessary documentation for training, audits, and inspections
Maintain hazard communication program
Maintain chemical and safety inventories for new or transferred employees and new processes
Update material safety data sheets
Develop and source required safety training for the Findlay Division
Interact with outside sources such as fire agencies, auditory companies, and vendors to promote safety
Complete training as needed on specific safety topics
Must work a required number of hours as determined by department, shift and position.
Conduct ergonomic assessments, generate training material using PP
Enter training data and accident investigation information into computer databases and generate reports.
