Join us as our new Research Associate / Sr. Research Associate in Microbial Assay Development
We are seeking a Research Associate / Sr. Research Associate to join our Microbial Assay Development team in the Research Triangle Park, NC. In this role, you will work with a team anchored in the Quality organization to develop, validate and implement microbial assays for use in quality control (QC) across a variety of microbial products and platforms. As a Research Associate/ Sr. Research Associate, you will leverage your laboratory skill set to execute experiments, troubleshoot issues, collect & interpret data, and write reports. You will have the opportunity to work across interdepartmental areas within the company as a part of project teams who contribute to new assay development to help launch new products to market.

In this role you’ll make an impact by:
  • Working in collaboration with worldwide method responsible scientists to develop, validate/verify and implement microbial or analytical methods to Novozymes QC or third-party labs.
  • We make an impact by working cross-functionally with other Zymers in R&D, production, Quality Management and Quality Control organizations.
  • Supporting your colleagues by performing independent lab work including but not limited to media preparation, plate-based assays, molecular assays, and the ability to manage laboratory supplies and product inventory related to method development
  • Demonstrating success with attention to detail and time management
  • Having experience or a strong desire to draft and develop new standard operating procedures (SOPs) to implement in labs used to release our microbial products
  • Having flexibility to handle a variety of tasks and shifting priorities in a collaborative team environment
  • Being a proven team player with strong communication skills and willingness to help
To succeed you must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or related field. Industry experience is not required but practical lab experience beyond the classroom is desired.
  • The ability to follow established experimental design and protocol for QC methodologies, experience writing SOPs and protocols for industry preferred but not required.
  • Practical experience with experimental techniques (including strong aseptic technique and CFU plate-based assays), data entry and introductory statistical knowledge.
  • Basic skills with computer software such as entry into spreadsheets or databases with attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Highly organized self-starter with the ability to prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Expected Salary Range: $53,000-$83,000 USD
