Ten Broeck Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing is now hiring a full time Registered Dietitian to join our team! Ten Broeck is a 258-bed facility that is recognized throughout the Hudson Valley for our outstanding delivery of subacute and long-term care.

The Registered Dietitan is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing an individualized nutritional care plan for each resident at Ten Broeck. They are responsible for resident visitation and documentation as well as assisting in maintaining Resident profiles in computerized menu program. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF A REGISTERED DIETITIAN:

  • Communicates information regards Residents therapeutic diets with staff. Developing and maintaining working relations with employees.
  • Conducting training programs on therapeutic diets, portion size, tray line service and other related topics.
  • Preparation of cycle menus for regular and special diet patterns.
  • Use and care of the recipe system in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Keeps informed about current professional therapeutic and food service management developments.
  • Spot checks trays for accuracy of diets, preferences and portion sizes.
  • Reports all cases of alleged violations involving mistreatment, neglect or abuse, including injuries of unknown sources.
  • Observes and participates in the distribution of meals in Resident dining rooms during mealtimes.
  • Participates in sanitation program to meet health regulations. Carries out safety measures for accident prevention, food production and food service sanitation program. Follows the nutrition care program of Ten Broeck. Maintains the nutrition care plan for each resident’s assessment. Plans, implements, evaluates and delivers nutritional care to each resident including clinical documentation, resident visitation and care planning conferences.
  • Visits all new admissions within 48 hours after admission for food preferences and special needs. Completes comprehensive Dietary Profile & Mini Nutritional Assessment forms within 48 hours of admission for each resident and places it in the dietary section of the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Documents all pertinent nutritional information in the resident’s medical record in compliance with State and Federal regulations, or as needed.
  • Represents the Food Service Department by attending resident care conferences (excluding sub-acute Residents), Food Committee, Resident Council and all other resident related activities as appropriate, presenting and suggesting approaches and coordinating follow-up on all Food Service issues.
  • Maintains a computerized Dietary Profile on all residents’ updates and makes changes as necessary.
  • Develops modified diet menu extensions based on the approved diet manual in conjunction with the Food Service Director.
  • Participates in resident food committee.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF A REGISTERED DIETITIAN:

  • Works in and environment of temperature extremes.
  • Stands for long periods on hard surfaces.
  • Repetitive lifting up to 15 pounds.
  • Occasional pushing up to 125 pounds.
  • Repetitive bending, stretching and reaching up to 6 feet.
  • Safely move from one nursing unit to another within 3 minutes.
  • Contact with residents with visual, speech, auditory, cognitive, physical and emotional impairments.

REGISTERED DIETITIAN QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S./B.A. in Dietetics.
  • RD credential and CDN credential within 6 months is required
  • Experience in a healthcare facility preferred
  • 2-year minimum experience in the field of Dietetics and Nutrition
