Job Summary
Watershed Foods of Gridley, IL is seeking a Refrigeration Maintenance Technician for 3rd Shift and will provide a **$5,000 sign-on bonus*** to the individual who fills the position who applies directly to our company. Refrigeration Technicians will report to the Refrigeration Manager. Our Refrigeration Maintenance Technicians will serve as the designated and trained Operators for our ammonia refrigeration system and will make minor repairs and upgrades as directed. In addition to focusing on the refrigeration system for our processes, the Refrigeration Maintenance Technicians will serve a supporting role for the remaining members of the Maintenance Department by helping to maintain the facility and equipment in order to meet the Production schedule. These staff members will be required to promote teamwork and efficiency while role modeling high standards that reflect our developing Safety Culture.
Standard 3rd Shift: Starting work week Monday night 11:00p.m. - 7:30a.m. (Monday through Friday)
Refrigeration Maintenance Technicians will be asked to share coverage on occasional Saturdays. The On-Call Schedule rotation will be fully explained during the last stage of the interview process during the on-site interview. While these situation are somewhat rare, all members of the Maintenance Department may be asked to flex their schedule as urgent priorities arise. These include special shutdowns, major installations, state/federal inspections, weather and power emergencies, or system failures.
We are establishing Watershed position levels to match levels of competency. Pay will be commensurate with experience in the field and demonstrated skills. These are hourly, non-exempt positions which are eligible for overtime. Any hours worked on either 2nd Shift or 3rd Shift will receive an additional 55ยข shift differential per hour.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Follow Watershed Foods sanitation, Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP procedures, Food Safety policies and Occupational Safety Policies. Support all Watershed Foods Food Safety initiatives. Address Food Safety, Quality and Occupational Safety concerns with Operations, Quality and Maintenance Team members and contractors.
- Serve as one of the designated Operators for Ammonia Refrigeration System and make minor repairs and upgrades as directed.
- Effectively and efficiently troubleshoot, correct, and repair electrical equipment as needed.
- Complete non-electrical maintenance tasks.
- Direct and work with contractors to complete project and maintenance tasks.
- Make process improvement proposals to minimize down time.
- Conduct root cause analysis to eliminate repeat problems.
- Maintain a clean work area and maintain thorough records.
- Be available for call-in situations.
- Willing to come in early and work over to complete critical assignments.
- Be the single point of accountability for multiple key plant systems.
Skills and Experience REQUIRED:
- Ability to read and follow Standard Operating Procedures.
- Willingness to participate and contribute to audits within the program and with Government agencies.
- Knowledge of electricity and electronic principles.
- Ability to understand and troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems.
- Experience with Motor controls, VFDs (variable frequency drive).
- Understanding of electrical schematics.
- Must have basic pipe fitting abilities.
- Ability to read and understand Piping and Instrumentation diagrams,
- Willing to work at heights or within confined spaces,
- Must be able to pass a pulmonary physical and a fit test.

Skills and Experience STRONGLY PREFERRED:
- RETA Certifications in Ammonia Refrigeration. (CIRO,CARO)
- Previous experience with Commercial/Industrial refrigeration. (Ammonia Preferred)
- Hazmat training.
- Basic Knowledge of PSM and recordkeeping.
- Ability to maintain and update electronic records (Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Working knowledge of single-stage and two-stage pump recirculated systems
