Position Description: The Recyclers main duties are to sort store generated recyclables, maintain trash and compost bins and areas of store property where they are located; daily grounds keeping duties and daily store cleaning duties. The Recycler position also maintains the Co-op recycling area. This includes responsibility for packaging recyclables, ensuring they meet requirements for delivery and ensuring our recycling area is kept clean and neat on a daily basis. In addition, this position will answer recycling questions from the general public. The position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Current Drivers license and DMV record that meets First Alternative insurance requirements
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to accept and accurately follow directions
- Ability to lift 75lbs and drag 100lbs.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm, motivation, and interest in recycling and maintaining clean store and Co-op grounds areas
- Good interpersonal skills for daily interactions with the public
- Ability to work in a variety of outdoor climates
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Cleaning/Recycling
May include any of the following, depending on shift and day of the week working:
- Clean the Co-op Meeting Rooms, Annex (backstock area, offices) and as assigned the South Store, and North store.
Cleaning may include:

- Vacuum, mop and sweep all floors, carpets, stairways and storage areas.
- Empty and clean all trash bins.
- Empty and clean all recycling and compost bins ensuring proper disposal of items.
- Clean all restrooms, restock and maintain supplies and back-stock, including roll towels.
- Clean outdoor tables and chairs, picnic tables, shopping baskets and carts.
- Prioritize additional cleaning needs, communicating problem areas to supervisor.
- Complete needed laundry (bar towels, mop heads, napkins, cloths, etc) ensuring adequate quantity delivered to all locations.
- As available, give expert assistance for handling customer spills or product breakage, including using proper hazard signs.
- Sweep outdoor parking lot areas including under shopping cart corrals, patios/decks and entry areas as assigned.
- If assigned after hours cleaning, ensure doors and locks are secured throughout cleaning shifts and make sure all doors and windows are secured when shift is completed. Ensure alarm is set when leaving at the end of the shift.
- Adapt to changes in routine or priority of cleaning tasks.
- Monitor trash and recycling patterns in store and give feedback to supervisors for reducing items not being recycled. Help monitor signage of recycling bins to ensure more accurate recycling.
- If assigned to the South Store, maintain the community recycling center as part of regular shift duties.
- Receiving, sorting, bagging and loading for transport Styrofoam recycling
- Sorting, bagging and loading for transport shrink wrap (plastic film)
- Complete delivery of recyclables with large vehicle, as assigned.
- Request signs needed to improve recycling area education.
- Maintains cleanliness of recycling center no trash on ground, broken glass, etc.
- Complete daily transfers as assigned.
- Assist with maintenance projects; may include such tasks as painting, physical plant maintenance, store resets, etc.
- Perform any tasks as assigned by management.
- Ensures continuous communication to Maintenance Manager and other Clean Team members.
