Darling Ingredients is looking for an entry-level Ramp Lead to join our team in Ward, SC. This is a key role, focused on maintaining a safe and productive operation of the ramp area at our plant. A class A-CDL license is not required.

Job Summary: Maintain safe and productive operation of ramp area. Clean work area. Load or unload trailer as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Communicate with Shift Supervisor and Dispatch Supervisor on an ongoing basis
• Efficient loading or unloading of trailers as assigned.
• Coordinate the movement of trailers around the yard as needed.
• When unloading, perform proper pit selection based on material type.
• Safely operate equipment used such as overhead cranes or use of the Bartlett for unloading trailers.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Monitor Trailer Staging Area for leaking trailers and reposition as needed
• Report and Document damaged or broken equipment
• Inspect Yard Truck daily for safe operation/check fluids
• Expected to perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be able to drive tractor trailers on the yard safely and pick up trailers to dump.
• Ability to read instructions on chemical containers and SDS.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to move 55 gallon drums weighing 450 pounds using hand truck.
• Bending and stooping.
• Work at heights of at least 12 feet.
• Climb stairs frequently.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

• Typical industrial plant work environment. Ability to work both inside and outside, in a damp environment 80% of the time. Must be willing to work all shifts including over-time and weekends as needed.
