Berman Skin Institute Medical Group, Inc (BSI), a large multi-location dermatology group with 11 locations in Northern California, is seeking a Radiation Therapist to assist in the continued growth of its non-melanoma skin cancer treatment program. For over 10 years, BSI’s skin cancer patients have greatly benefited from the use of this non-surgical procedure in a number of its out-patient, dermatology offices. Currently, BSI is seeking an RTT for its locations in Placerville and Cameron Park, California.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Provide and ensure an environment of caring, concern and support for patients, visitors, medical staff and co-workers on a consistent basis.
• Use effective communication techniques and interpersonal skills to provide explanations for treatment and related procedures.
• Explain treatment procedures to patient and/or family and refer medical questions to appropriate personnel.
• Respond effectively to patient concerns.

• Deliver radiation treatment according to a written prescription and treatment plan.
• Ensure safety in patient care through the consistent practice of the institute’s procedures for treatment administration.
• Treatment delivery includes identifying the correct patient, escorting patient to treatment room, assisting patient onto treatment table, positioning patient for treatment, delivering radiation, and assisting the patient in exiting the treatment room.
• Recognize deviation from prescribed treatment. Deliver and report all deviations to the Physicist and Medical Director.
• Reinforce patient education/side effect management information and indicate non-compliance to medical staff.

• Collect and document data acquired during the simulation procedure.
• Assist as needed in all treatment-related procedures, including making cutouts, transporting patients, performing simulations, charge capture, reviewing charts and ordering supplies.
• Perform/ document daily and weekly QA activity for equipment.
• Document findings outside the range established by the institute to Physicist and Medical Director, and notify such staff immediately of findings outside the normal range of operations.
• Participate in programs to measure and improve the quality of care within the institute.

• Must adhere to all federal and state regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Schedule patient visits to follow treatment plan.
• Monitor patient's emotional and physical tolerance of treatment.

Required Qualification (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

• License to practice radiation therapy.
• Associates degree Required.
• Completion of formal radiation therapy technology program required.
• 1+ year related experience
• Prefer certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)

• CPR/First Aid Certificate

Additional Knowledge/Skills

• Knowledge of principles, practices and procedures involved in the operation of modern radiation therapy equipment and systems including simulation, imaging, and treatment procedures.
• Knowledge of the human anatomy and proper positioning of the patient to provide treatment as prescribed.

• Knowledge of principles and methods to ensure safety and quality control.
• Ability to both follow direction and act independently.
• Ability to maintain professionalism while working with sick patients.
