PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION:
Provide Quality Inspections of product to ensure conformance to engineering specifications. Support Quality processes throughout the organization to ensure product reliability, increase efficiency, and improve customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ability to perform accurate and thorough inspections of various parts and assemblies
Communicate non-conformances both written and oral at all levels of the organization
Ability to define root cause and corrective action for non-conformances
Organizational skills to perform detailed follow up of Corrective Actions
Common knowledge of machine tool basics (mechanical, electrical, pneumatics)
Support other quality functions within Operations such as workmanship, packaging standards, etc
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision – yet achieve superior results and output
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and symbols including GD&T.
Ability to communicate technical information both written and oral
Ability to properly use basic mechanical and electrical inspection and measuring tools
Ability to perform calibration of hand tools and interpret results
Knowledge of disciplined problem solving tools and techniques
Interpersonal skills – Uniquely driven individual with long term ambitions, results oriented, works effectively with others

Associates degree or technical certificate in engineering / quality discipline or equivalent
Minimum of three year’s in quality assurance / inspection role
Previous experience as machinist / machine builder or assembler preferred
Working knowledge of joystick operated CMM (coordinate measuring machine)
Ability to operate CMM inspection software
3. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY
Extended standing for long periods
Lifting and handling of parts up to and occasionally exceeding 50lbs
Ability to handle material while operating inspection equipment
4. VISUAL ACUITY, HEARING, SPEAKING
Good visual acuity, hearing, and speaking ability
5. ENVIRONMENT AND SCHEDULING
Most assignments occur at FAC Rochester Hills (clean, well lit, and air-conditioned), however business requirement may necessitate assignments at regional or supplier locations
Contact with oils, greases, and rust preventatives
Occasional short-notice overtime required
Ability to work 2 nd shift to meet production demand
