Job description
Under the direction of the Smilow Director of Quality and Patient Safety in collaboration with the Chief Quality officer, the Chief Medical Officer , and the VP of Patient Services, along with cancer center network leaders, the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Centers Quality and Safety Coordinator develops and supports the design, implementation, evaluation and advancement of a culture of clinical quality and patient safety within the Smilow Care center sites. The incumbent plans, develops and directs the patient safety and quality improvement initiatives of Smilow Cancer Hospital providing the leadership necessary to achieve national best practice performance levels in quality improvement while facilitating the implementation of evidence based medicine/clinical practices. The incumbent ensures that the quality of cancer care services rendered meets or exceeds professionally recognized national and institutional standards. The incumbent interfaces with a diverse range of clinical and administrative professionals, resolves sometimes complex policy and service issues within the group, directs prescribed data analysis and reporting activities and ensures compliance with regulatory agency requirements (state, federal, and accreditation organizations). The incumbent leads quality improvement initiatives and conducts RCA and ACA as required.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare, Health Administration, Public Health or related field. Master's Degree or higher preferred.
EXPERIENCE
3+ years of healthcare experience. Clinical experience in the field of Oncology or quality improvement preferred. Knowledge of various regulatory agencies, including TJC, DPH, CMS, National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) and other nationally recognized oncology related standards of care as well as the Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Reporting System are strongly preferred.
LICENSURE
R.N with active CT licensure (preferred). Certification in quality improvement (desirable).
SPECIAL SKILLS
1. Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to multitask in a fast paced complex environment2. Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, coordinative, and organizational skills. 3. Excellent understanding of accreditation, federal and state regulations/requirements 4. Proficient in Microsoft Office such as Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint and Outlook 5. Evidence of Lean, DMAIC or Six Sigma training and/or project experience. Certification is strongly preferred.
