Position Title: Quality Engineer
Location: Cedar Springs, MI
Reports To: Director of Quality
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Summary:
Under supervision of the Director of Quality this this position will implement and assist in the maintenance of CS Manufacturing’s quality system. This position will be responsible for managing all aspects of quality for their assigned customer.
Responsibilities:
As a Quality Engineer you will be responsible for managing aspects of quality for the assigned customer and plant, including customer support, plant support, supplier quality, and product launch. Responsibility includes:
- Development, maintenance, and continual improvement of quality plans within the Quality Management System (QMS) that will meet or exceed customer quality expectations.
- This role will be responsible for facilitating corrective actions and continuous improvement projects to resolve customer complaints, supplier and plant quality issues while working closely with customers, suppliers, engineers, and operations.
- The quality engineer will analyze data from various sources, including scrap reports, GP-12, product on hold reports, customer feedback, production records, and quality control tests, to identify trends and patterns. They will use this information to make informed decisions and improve the manufacturing process.
- Assist in the implementation of corrective actions.
- The quality engineer trains and coaches production staff on quality control procedures and techniques. They also work with other departments, such as engineering and product design, to ensure that products are designed to meet quality standards.
- The quality engineer monitors the production processes to ensure that they are consistent and efficient. They also work with production teams to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- The quality engineer ensures that the production process is compliant with industry and regulatory standards, such as IATF 16949 and customer requirements.
- Participate and/or lead APQP, and production part approval process (PPAP) activities.
- Lead the development, maintenance of process flows, process failure mode effects analyses, and control plans to minimize risk and maintain customer satisfaction.
- Partner with Supply Chain Management including resolution of supplier quality problems and supplier development. Support and manage internal and 3rd party containment activities.
- Support other quality engineers in the completion of all quality system audits including but not limited to:
- First piece approvals (FPA)
- Operator Quality Inspection (OQI)
- Quality Audits
- Operator Work Instructions
Qualifications
- Associate degree with 2+years of experience, or Bachelor of Science degree
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of APQP
- Able to read blueprints, CAD, and GD&T
- Excellent writing, presenting and verbal communication skills.
