The RN/Healthcare Program Coordinator coordinates training and activities of the center’s healthcare career technical training programs, including Certified Nurse Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, and Medical Administrative Assistant
Requirements:
The RN/Healthcare Program Coordinator coordinates training and activities of the center’s healthcare career technical training programs, including Certified Nurse Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, and Medical Administrative Assistant.
- Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the department and classroom and clinical settings to ensure maximum student motivation, progress, and completion.
- Submits and maintains all state documentation and meets all state requirements for program accreditation and renewals.
- Ensures that all instructors meet state requirements for program instruction.
- Acts as a support to classroom instructors in working with students, providing instruction and guidance, and meeting the general requirements of each class. Assists with instruction as needed.
- Creates and delivers daily lesson plans or weekly work plans covering all curricular, state, national, and Department of Labor requirements.
- Monitors instructors and overall program for compliance, adherence to schedules, and effectiveness.
- Maintains a high degree of classroom management and case-management to ensure maximum student learning and progress within and throughout the program.
- Establishes a high degree of student/instructor/coordinator rapport.
- Provides personal and career counseling and behavior modification for students as needed.
- Utilizes all possible curriculum resources available.
- Responsible for the maintenance of student documentation and records as required by the State Department of Public Health, the program, and department.
- Signs all students’ CDPH 283B forms upon verification of completion of all applicable requirements.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with student clinical sites; Schedules and facilitates student clinical training off center at approved sites.
- Coordinates student activities necessary for placement at clinicals or internships, state testing, and completion of the program – drug-testing, background checks, state-testing, etc.
- Assists with documentation and certification for the center’s Pharmacy Technician and Medical Administrative Assistant Career Technical Training programs.
- Assists with identifying student job placement opportunities upon their completion of the program.
- Ensures the cleanliness and organization of classrooms and program areas.
- Responsible for reports required by the manager such as monthly reports on case-management of students, purchase requisitions, and weekly student evaluations.
- Monitors and updates program policies and procedures on an annual basis and as needed.
Minimum: Currently holds an active Registered Nurse License from the State of California and a Director of Staff Development Certificate; possesses practical experience in the subject/training area; extensive practical knowledge of the Nursing career and field, and meets either of the following qualification requirements:
(1) One (1) year of experience as a licensed nurse providing direct patient care in a long term care facility in addition to one (1) year of experience planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs in nursing; or
(2) Two years experience as a licensed nurse, at least one year of which must be in the provision of direct patient care in a nursing facility. Within six (6) months of employment and prior to teaching a certification program, the Director of Staff Development shall obtain a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education courses in planning, implementing and evaluation educational programs in nursing. These must either be courses approved by the Board of Registered Nursing or courses administered by an accredited educational institution. A transcript of successfully completed courses shall be sent to the Department and shall be used as a basis for approval of the qualifications of the Director of Staff Development.
Preferred: Teaching or training experience within the Nursing field.
General Information: In order to perform the essential job functions of this position, candidate must be able to compose/write descriptive reports; use appropriate techniques to create, deliver, and implement programmatic activities; verbally direct individuals and groups; model and monitor expected behaviors; practice intervention techniques; successfully complete mandated training courses.
Knowledge Required:
Knowledge of current CNA requirements, terminology, concepts, procedures, and calculations. Knowledge and ability to demonstrate and teach all skills required of a CNA. Knowledge of effective instructional and training strategies needed to impart knowledge and instill appropriate behaviors and work habits in young adult students; to read, comprehend, interpret, communicate and execute instructions or directives fluently in English.
