Job description
What Will You Do?
You will oversee the production of Coolers units, heat exchanger coils and components within established operating costs, safety guidelines, customer delivery and quality standards. You will report to the Plant Superintendent. You will oversee a department of 40-50 employees, with multiple floor leads being direct reports to help manage the larger team.
You will perform multiple supervisory activities and oversee several separate production sequences. You will write maintenance work orders, schedule production, supports plant goals, resolve minor labor disputes, manage department workers in maintaining a clean work area and general housekeeping. You will report to the Plant Superintendent.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a positive and engaging culture with all team members.
- Develop your direct reports.
- Receive and act on verbal and written information from the plant superintendent and management staff personnel.
- Maintain required production level in assigned area.
- Direct work force and assignment of jobs to be performed, and best use of workforce.
- Check (daily) on the department production needs and assure that parts are on hand for the work force when they arrive.
- Write maintenance work orders for necessary machine repairs and follow up on the work order to minimize down time or faulty operation of the equipment.
- Resolve minor labor differences and handle the initial step involving employee complaints.
- Maintain Safety and OSHA standards and regulations on hazardous material within the assigned departments.
- Administer work rules (handbook) in handling employment issues and discipline procedures.
- Monitor workforce to assure they are performing at satisfactory levels.
- Audit employee output to insure conformance with quality and quantity standards.
- Direct others in response to emergencies, including fire or natural calamity.
- Mentor the Production Team in Lean practices to ensure continuing development and use of Lean principles.
- Other essential functions as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Min 3+ years of experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing production environment is required.
An Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as a technical field, is preferred.
Experience with personnel scheduling and timekeeping is a plus.
Experience with SAP would be beneficial.
