Job Description

In a manufacturing environment, performs simple, repetitive production functions including filling, utility operations, packing, packaging, assembling, labeling, operating machines, and verifying parts under general supervision. Works from standardized methods and process instructions, product prints, written, and verbal instructions to defined workmanship standards. Uses tools, machines, equipment (hand and powered), plus gauges and fixtures necessary to perform the work task.


2nd Shift- 3:00 pm-11:30 pm

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assembles/produces simple parts and subassemblies using various equipment, devices, tools, gauges, etc. Simple parts and subassemblies are characterized as
    • Items that have limited part counts (typically < 20);
    • And/or can be completed in less than one hour (total manual operations / unit);
    • And/or are produced via processes which are repetitive in nature.
  • Required to comprehend requisite work instructions and complete all paper work.
  • Checks produced parts per operation inspection standards; responsible for quality and quantity of work performed.
  • Responsible for general housekeeping of designated areas.
  • May be tasked to pick up parts from stock room and/or move completed assemblies to next point in the process.
  • May be required to pack finished product prior to shipping.
  • Must comply with and ensure compliance with company health, safety and environmental policies, Code of Conduct, and follow the values outlined by the Smiths Way.
  • Must comply with all applicable U.S. export and security regulations

Note: The noise and temperature levels in the work environment are usually moderate but may be subject to increased levels of cold and heat during extreme weather events.

The Individual

  • Prefer one (1) year related assembly experience.
  • Prefer Soldering experience (IPC-J-STD-001).
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude
  • Must have capacity to read blueprints, work instructions, analysis sheets, specifications, etc.
  • Must have knowledge of basic mathematics and perform routine computations (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Must possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess ability to work independently and as a member of team.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be highly conscious of surroundings and workplace hazards.
  • Physical requirements include but not limited to:
    • Repetitive loading and unloading materials in/on equipment.
    • Standing – for extended periods of time up to and including the length of shift.
    • Sitting - Upper body held upright in seated position for sustained periods of time.
    • Kneeling - Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
    • Crouching / Stooping – To floor level by bending knees to avoid stress and strain on back.
    • Climbing - Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps, and the like, using feet and legs.
    • Working at heights - up to 25 ft.
    • Lifting - Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.
    • Balancing - Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow surfaces.
    • Pulling - Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
    • Pushing - Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
    • Carrying objects - Grip and transport objects with the palms, fingers and arms.
    • Grasping - Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
    • Reaching - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Background-

This position requires a U.S. Personal Security Clearance. Applicant must be a U.S.
Citizen.
