Imerys is hiring a Purchasing Manager to work onsite in our Sylacauga facility.
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Plan and execute procurement strategies for IMERYS Sylacauga, AL operations plants. Work closely with all levels of management at the Plant to determine needs, develop strategies, and provide procurement sources in support of those needs:
- granting adequate supply levels for plant operations
- optimizing timelines and prices
- optimizing inventory levels.
For the supplier pool under Procurement responsibility: manage vendor relations and optimize the supplier (proven high-quality strategic suppliers)
Interacts with Area (PMA) wide Purchasing roles to support the implementation of purchasing strategies
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibility is to work closely with Operations to grant all needed services, raw materials and equipment are properly supplied in order to grant the routine operation of Sylacauga Plant.
- Review and authorize Purchase Orders and purchase requisitions. Assure purchases are followed up or expedited when required.
- Review and analyze store room activities; receiving, parts transactions, cycle counts.
- Report month end physical inventory & usage of raw materials.
- Manage current contracts to ensure supplier adherence to contractual obligations and smooth routine activities (procurement/ invoicing / payment).
- Develop plans to achieve goals and measure the results towards the budget.
- Communicate to management any procurement issues that affect the day to day operations
- On-going support / development work related to Imerys ERP Systems (OPERA/SAP) and other related support systems. Follow up training and reporting as required.
- Grant continuous improvement in the Procurement Process activities.
- Maintain department records - including price history for information on price variances.
- For Procurement-supplier pool (not under Purchasing Group responsibility):
- Negotiate purchase price and delivery time conditions to optimum levels.
- Monitor/analyze trends in spending and inventory control to identify areas of possible improvements and/or savings.
- Analyze trends and market conditions for present and future pricing, availability of material, lead-time, and capacity of goods and service.
- Surveys suppliers, assesses vendor capabilities, develops alternate sources, and evaluates vendor performance in order to secure cost-effective sources for products and services.
- Undertake projects relating to procurements and provide reports and recommendations.
- Support Corporate/PMA Purchasing team objectives between other sites and other business units.
- Perform other duties and projects as directed by management.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferred (business or related field) with 6 years procurement experience
- 5 years inventory management experience
- Strong computer skills required; Experience with Google suite of products.
- Strong knowledge on MRP (Material Requirements Planning) and ERP experience.
- Knowledge on SAP is preferred.
- Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
- CPM (Corporate Performance Management) certification preferred
