NOTICE OF VACANCY
POSITION:
Payroll & Student Activities Coordinator
Central Office (Union Position)
12 months – 40 hours per week
WAGES:
Hourly Wage: $26.23/Pay Group A
(less $.50/hr. for the first three months)
DUTIES:
The Payroll & Student Activities Coordinator under the general direction of the Business Manager and the Coordinator of Business/Financial Services performs responsible accounting clerical work in preparing and maintaining the payroll system for the Glastonbury Board of Education and maintains related financial accounts and records for student activities and payroll operations.
KEY FUNCTIONS:
- Prepares employee payrolls in accordance with collective bargaining agreements for bargaining unit personnel and in accordance with Board of Education approved salary levels for non-bargaining unit personnel
- Performs verification calculation and entry of payroll information, including mandatory and voluntary pay deductions into an automated payroll system
- Performs calculating, posting and verifying duties to obtain financial information for payroll deductions, including withholding taxes, Social Security, retirement, and other payments
- Utilizes electronic time systems to perform responsibilities
- Processes biweekly payroll checks and reports quarterly and annual reports, and W-2 forms on automated payroll system
- Sets up and maintains records of financial transactions of student activity accounts, which include schools, classes, clubs and organizations activity funds
- Establishes accounts receivable and processes revenue, balances monthly statements, and informs faculty advisors or students of status of accounts
- Performs calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain financial and related data for proper recording and reporting of information
- Prepares regular monthly, quarterly, and annual statistical reports for school principals, faculty, advisors and others as needed
REQUIRED EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR EXPERIENCES
- Associates degree or equivalent, and three years of increasingly responsible payroll experience
- Intermediate to advanced expertise in Microsoft Office, (with a high level focus in Excel), Google and Payroll Systems, preferably iVisions
- Experience with electronic time systems, preferably Frontline, accounts receivable and financial record keeping
- Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques utilized in financial record keeping and related bookkeeping procedures
EXPERIENCE:
Strong experience in technology and electronic accounting clerical work and processes. Advanced experience in utilizing iVisions or similar program, Excel and accounting programs and spreadsheets to create, maintain and track student activities and/or payroll processes and records.
