JOB DESCRIPTION
The Payroll Manager is an integral role within our organization’s People Team. They work to ensure our payroll expenses and taxes are paid correctly and on time. A big part of the responsibilities will be to supervise our payroll team and liaise with other professionals. They must have excellent management and communication skills. Our ideal candidate is analytical and methodical, with experience in payroll administration and deep knowledge of payroll regulations. We also value integrity, team spirit, and strong organizational skills. The Payroll Manager’s goal will be to ensure our payroll procedures are compliant, efficient, and current.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
- Supervise the payroll team and assign duties
- Direct the collection, computing, and documentation of payroll data
- Oversee and review payroll payments and account reconciliations
- Ensure records and processes comply with company and legal regulations
- Coordinate with HR and accounting to verify employee data and accounts
- Maintain accurate account balances and detailed records for auditing
- Monitor payroll team performance and train new staff
- Manage and resolve any issues related to payroll
- Prepare reports and financial statements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required
- Knowledge + Experience: 2-3 years of payroll experience with 500+ employees required; 1-2 years of management experience preferred; extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software; proficient with payroll software
- Soft Skills: Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; strong supervisory and leadership skills

- Prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at a desk
- Extended hours in front of a computer screen
