Our Team

The Mass General Brigham Mobile Health Team/Community Care Vans are dedicated to increasing access to quality healthcare for vulnerable communities in the greater Boston area. Originally deployed during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic to provide COVID testing, vaccines, care kits, and reliable health information to patients, our model has since evolved and offers a broad menu of mobile medical services, including screenings and interventions for chronic health issues like hypertension, diabetes, and substance use disorders. To address social determinants of health, patients are screened for issues related to housing, access to healthy food, and personal safety, and connected with relevant resources. We are even in the process of transitioning to a clinic-style offering.

Position Overview

The Medical Assistant is an integral member of the mobile health team. Responsibilities include registering patients, preparing them for their visit, and assisting the Provider and/or Community Health Worker with clinically appropriate patient care tasks. Because we are meeting the patients where they are, it is "walk-up" style, meaning there are no prescheduled visits and patient ages/needs will vary. This is a unique opportunity to work autonomously to the top of your education/certification while also functioning as part of a highly collaborative team. The ideal candidate profile is a flexible, adaptable Medical Assistant who is confident in their clinical abilities and genuinely enjoys variety!

Hours/Schedule

We are seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to support the mobile van 24 hours per week. While hours vary, the van is typically out in the field on Tuesdays from 9:00am to 6:00pm, Wednesdays from 8:00am to 12:00pm, and Fridays from 8:00am to 12:00pm or 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Not only do we need help out in the field, but also participation in our scheduled community events in Lynn, Peabody, and Salem (sometime outside of normal working hours). Because of the nature of the position, we do strive to give our Medical Assistants their schedule 1 month in advance.

Qualifications

• Required:
  • Completion of a formal, post-secondary clinical training program (ex. Medical Assistant, EMT, Paramedic, Nursing Assistant) OR Matriculation in an Associate's or Bachelor’s degree program in nursing (RN).
• Strongly Preferred:
  • Certificate, Diploma or Associates Degree in Medical Assisting from an accredited program
  • A minimum of 2 years of ambulatory experience
  • Bilingual - Spanish and English
