Paid Training Positions:

Professional Line Worker

Place, move, rearrange, replace, connect, disconnect, transfer, maintain, reroute, and remove aerial and underground plant, including service drops, house cables, and building terminals. Operate company vehicle as required. Perform such work under minimum supervision.

General Duties:

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Work with heavy-duty power equipment, i.e., power dolly, power saws, power winches and hand tools to install and maintain outside plant facilities

· Handle and climb ladders and poles, work at heights in boom trucks and enter tunnels, buildings, trenches, crawl spaces or manholes to place materials

· Attach or detach various kinds of hardware to wires, cables, buildings or poles

· Use test equipment to check for gas in manholes and may require emptying water and other debris from manholes

· Dismantle, move or remove aerial, underground or building wire, cable, associated equipment and hardware

· Load required tools and materials on boom trucks, center mounts, companion trucks and pickups and drive to work locations

· Read and interpret cut sheets and work order prints to complete work assignments

· This work requires frequent pushing, pulling, and lifting of moderate to heavy-weight objects throughout the workday

· Perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company

· Assignments may require a valid class “C” or “A” driver's license and a demonstration of proficiency in the operation of a vehicle

· Must pass a drug test and criminal records check

· Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record

Fiber Technician

As a Fiber Splicer, you will have the opportunity to utilize your skill set, work in a safety-minded environment, and join us in expanding technology for a better community. Fiber technicians are responsible to produce end-to-end fiber optic networks.

General Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to:

· Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks

· Operate all testing equipment and be adept at resolving challenges common to fiber optic networks

· Have experience prepping fiber splice enclosures

· Utilize a fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, max tester and power meter

· Knowledgeable in fiber design, reading documentation, understanding light levels and dB loss

· Work in outdoor utility construction sites

· Handle and climb ladders and poles, work at heights in boom trucks and enter tunnels, buildings, trenches, crawl spaces or manholes to place materials

· Keep detailed written records of work activity

· Requires frequent pushing, pulling and lifting of moderate to heavyweight objects throughout the workday

· Perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company

Network Technician

Install and replace HFC physical network plant components (e.g., coax, actives, passives, power supplies, grounding systems, pedestals, riser guards, conduit, etc.) according to technical specifications. Splice coax and fiber cables. Monitor and report signal leakages and complete repairs as required. Perform such work under minimum supervision.

General Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to:

· Place and install the required coax cable when necessary

· Troubleshoot and repair existing coax lines and line equipment

· Splice overhead and underground coax cables

· Test, tune and balance equipment to troubleshoot service lines

· Able to work on call — evenings and weekends, as needed

· Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions

· Able to lift and pull 75 pounds several times each day

· Work in outdoor utility construction sites

· Handle and climb ladders and poles, work at heights in boom trucks and enter tunnels, buildings, trenches, crawl spaces or manholes to place materials

Kansas City: Olathe & Shawnee

Pay Structure: $22 -$25 per hour while training, $65,000 to $135,000 during Working Phase (varies with position & Location)
