Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to perform a broad range of specialized/technical clerical office support functions for the Division of Health Care Facilities & Programs. Keyboards complex charts, statistical reports, documents, forms, memoranda and letters from diverse sources utilizing Microsoft Office software and performs a variety of other complex functions using personal computers. Serves as receptionist.
Job Responsibilities
- Uses advanced technical computer equipment to compose letters, charts, and forms for professional staff.
- As receptionist, answers and responds to telephone calls.
- Organizes and maintains filing systems for easy referral and retrieval.
- Assists in reviewing travel vouchers for compliance with travel regulations.
- Compiles packets of program information necessary for program staff.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school.
- Requires two years office experience.
- Requires ability to type accurately at 45 wpm.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years experience with complex databases and programs, spreadsheets, and report applications.
- One year experience preparing correspondence in a professional manner consistent with applicable policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of office practices, procedures and programs.
- One year experience communicating both verbally and in writing.
- One year work experience in Microsoft Word, processing, and spreadsheet applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
