    College/Department Information

    Located conveniently in Augusta's downtown medical community, Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home provides continuous professional nursing care to veterans of Georgia who have served in the armed forces during war times. The home is owned and funded by the Georgia Department of Veterans Service and operated through an interagency agreement with Augusta University. Through this association, Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home is considered a leader in the area of geriatric educational training for Augusta University.

    Job Summary

    This position serves as Nursing Home Receptionist, using multi-line phone system, greets public and serve as information desk to nursing home. The duties include, but are not limited to: coordinating, completing and/or processing all nursing home purchasing requests into computer based purchasing system; maintaining purchasing logs and reports; maintaining accurate department files; balancing and reconciling donated funds account Designs and creative monthly newsletter; complies/types various reports, correspondence, forms and other material assigned and other duties as assigned.

    Responsibilities

    The duties include, but are not limited to:
    Receptionist - Answers multi-line phone system; routes incoming calls to appropriate departments; greets public and serves as information desk to nursing home; gives directions and information; sells stamps to patients and staff; issues refunds from vending machine.
    Administrative - Coordinating, completing and processing all nursing home purchasing request into computer based purchasing system (PeopleSoft and Health eShop) in accordance with policy and procedures, comparing with previously approved documentation and prioritizing incoming requests; include all necessary information on documents and brings to the attention of the Director of Business Services, any delinquent information; Monitors and orders business office supplies. Serve as back-up to other Business Office positions
    Records - Correspondence and document preparation; update and maintain mailing lists; prepares various reports maintaining all purchasing request and equipment records to include logging of all requisitions on various journals and in purchasing book by requisition number and departmental accounts. Maintains departmental files by sorting, filing materials alphabetically, numerically and chronologically, by department.
    Newsletter - Designs, creates and publishes monthly newsletter.
    Others - Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization with a minimum of one year experience performing secretarial/clerical assistant duties in a professional office setting.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    KNOWLEDGE
    Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
    Knowledge of AU and GWVNH policies and procedures.
    SKILLS
    Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
    Detail-oriented with strong organizational, prioritization and multi-tasking skills.
    ABILITIES
    Ability to maintain confidentiality and to access and accurately report changes in patient's condition.

    Shift/Salary/Benefits

    Shift: Days; Monday - Friday
    Pay Grade: 5
    Salary: $15.00/hour
    Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position

In addition, candidates selected for any position within Georgia War Veteran's Nursing Home (GWVNH) will be required to successfully complete the Georgia Long-term Care Background Check process. For specific positions, selected candidate(s) may also be required to successfully complete supplementary pre-employment onboarding requirements such as: a physical, drug screening and/or credit check.

    Credit Check
