Job Summary
The NPP practitioner engages families in home-based parenting skill-building using the Nurturing Parenting curriculum. Parenting sessions include observation of parent-child interactions and nurturing activity.
Essential Duties

  • Responds via telephone to referrals within 24 hours
  • Interacts with Department of Child Safety (DCS) regarding child well-being, family stability, and case planning.
  • Develops helping alliances with families by engaging families quickly and using rapport-building skills such as reflective listening, empathy, and supportive statements.
  • Participates in training used for motivational and solution-focused interviewing to engage families and motivate them to participate in services.
  • Describes the NP program to the family, including the frequency of visits, and will introduce the Nurturing Parenting approach
  • Determines status of parenting time for the parent if the child is placed in out-of-home care to be able to coordinate the nurturing activity and child observation.
  • Provides families with the NPP assessment instruments, including the PARTI, the AAPI, and the NSCS
  • Schedules all family sessions based on their needs.
  • Makes great efforts to overcome barriers to engage by demonstrating empathy and flexibility.
  • Conducts thorough and ongoing child/family strengths and needs assessments, utilizing the program specific protocol.
  • Develops and implements successful interventions that will enhance family functioning, increase protective factors, and decrease risk factors.

Requirements:

  • Associates degree in human services or a related field or a minimum of two (2) years’ related work experience
  • Proof of COVID immunization.
  • Must have good verbal and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in the English language.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and interpret complex information.
  • Possesses advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite computer applications, aptitude for learning computer software applications and the ability to instruct others in various software applications.
  • Spanish Speaking preferred, but not required.
  • Must be able to meet training and agency requirements for the position.

  • Must possess or be able to qualify for and maintain a valid Arizona department of public safety level one fingerprint clearance card.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and be insurable under the agency's automobile policy.
