The Susan Wayne Center of Excellence is located on thirty-eight acres of property in beautiful Thompson, CT. Thompson is centrally located, 25 minutes south of Worcester, MA and 40 minutes west of Providence, RI. The program serves 33 adolescents with developmental disabilities who range in age from 10-21.

Our program specializes in working with youth who have experienced complex trauma. Our clinical model is grounded in a trauma informed framework called ARC. Ongoing professional development opportunities are available agency wide in a variety of human services topics. Job Description:

Currently hiring for a Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA). Responsibilities include scheduling and transporting student’s to medical appointments, reporting appointment findings to the nursing team, filing, ordering supplies, providing health education and teaching children about healthy lifestyle habits, and administer medication as needed. This is a full-time, year round position.

Scheduling is anticipated for second shift hours, and may include weekend hours depending on need. Pay rate will be negotiated based on experience and educational level.

Requirements:

1. Must be 21 or Older

2. Currently certified as a CT CNA

3. Ability to obtain CT DCF medication administration certification

4. A valid driver’s license

5. Ability to be certified in American Red Cross CPR/First Aid

6. Ability to be certified in Building Communities of Care (verbal de-escalation and physical intervention)

7. Experience in a mental health, residential or medical setting with adolescents preferred

8. Strong oral and written communication skills

9. Knowledge of basic Microsoft computer systems and Internet capabilities

10. Acceptable CORI (Criminal Record Assessment)
