Do you love working with children? Are you motivated to support the mission of the Y? Join us in the Childwatch Room working with children ages 6 weeks to 9 OR in the Youth Wellness Room with children ages 5-9.

This is a part-time position, wages begin at $10/hr and Saturdays $11/hr.

Childwatch Room hours available:
Evening shifts with rotational Saturdays 9:00-11:00am

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Ensure the health and safety of all children, while positively engaging with members and families to enhance their experience and their children’s growth at our facility.

1. Ensure the safety of children; maintain a high level of confidentiality.
2. Respectfully communicate with children, parents, supervisors and other Y staff.
3. Ability to safely multitask and calmly control children’s behavior in sometimes chaotic situations.
4. Follow parent/guardian sign in and sign out procedures.
5. Provide, supervise, and interact with children in a variety of activities.
6. Feed children in accordance with parent/guardian instructions.
7. Check diapers hourly, and change when necessary; assist with clean-up.
8. Perform opening and/or closing procedures as required and outlined in guidelines.
9. Ability to complete the following shift duties as assigned, including cleaning toys, chairs, shelves, washing dishes, washing, folding laundry, cleaning bathrooms, emptying trash
10. Adhere to work schedule and substitute for other staff as needed.
11. Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions. Follow procedures for reporting all accidents, incidents, and hazards.
12. Adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations as outlined in employee handbook and other communications. Obtains and maintains required trainings.
13. Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.

• Minimum age 16 years
• Equivalent of 2 years’ high school education required.
• Previous child care experience preferred.
