Job description

Sim-Tech is a growing simulation manufacturer looking for a Mechanical Engineer to add to our manufacturing location. Must be efficient, focused, and dedicated to designing products in Solid Works and build drawings for new and existing products, finding solutions in quality product design. Must be further capable of working with employees, and ensure quality control is done at strategic steps of fabrication and assembly. This position will analyze and evaluate any issues with current products to develop effective solutions. Ability to conduct experiments on new products for durability and cost-efficiency.

Will work with leadership to create project schedules for products and estimate their delivery dates and deadlines. Will be required to aid Machine Operators use of machines and write technical manuals for reference.

• Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements in quality control.
• Analyze production processes, schedules, methods and other data and then provide management with reports containing the data and statistics to enable management to better understand future requirements needed for the manufacturing process.
• Ensure that the company’s manufacturing processes are in compliance with all government laws and regulations.
• Review and calculate labor, material and other production costs along with reviewing schedules and future production requirements to assist management in decision making.
• Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair services and make sure that manufacturer’s procedures and instructions are followed in order to keep production equipment operational.
• Identifying deficiencies in mechanical processes and developing improvements
• Design and develop prototypes
• Analyze and test prototypes and each revision of components
• Developing, initiating and managing all phases of projects
• Preparing documentation of critical analysis and providing suggestions for correcting errors
• Collaborating with Project Managers for proper allocation and tracking of resources
• Knowledge of 3d printing a definite plus

Working Conditions/Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can exceed OSHA limits.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering

Knowledge and/or training courses specific for this position:

· Proficiency using Microsoft Office software

· Proficient in Solid Works to build, modify and create products

Skills specific for this position:

· Demonstrated leadership of capital / continuous improvement projects focused on meeting corporate and departmental goals

· Effective at developing and managing a project plan to achieve desired results

· Proven ability to achieve required objectives through the leadership of others

· Ability to communicate with production associates, build relationships, work within cross functional teams (hourly/salaried) and gain consensus within work teams

Experience specific for this position:

· 2 to 4 years of Manufacturing / Process Engineering experience with-in an Assembly or Welding environment

· 1 to 2 years of experience with capital project management and justification

· 1 to 2 years of SolidWorks design experience

· SAP experience a plus

· Microsoft Project (or equivalent) experience preferred

· Metal Fabrication (shear, presses, turrets, laser cutting, plasma cutting) and MIG welding experience a plus

· Strong problem solving / trouble shooting experience

· Detail-oriented, highly organized, self-directed, and capable of interacting and communicating with all levels within the organization.

· Ability to multitask and lead / prioritize multiple projects

· Location is Sycamore, IL. 60178: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
