The Role
Relying on strong relationship and communication skills, the Vendor Manager will maintain and strengthen partnerships for a specified portfolio of market data and research service providers used throughout Fidelity. Collaborating with business partners and the vendors, the Vendor Manager will help to protect Fidelity’s assets by ensuring we are adhering to risk policies and completing any assigned risk tasks in a timely manner. The Vendor Manager will lead negotiations and manage the contracts associated to their specified vendors while working towards the most favorable deal for Fidelity, guaranteeing that the end users receive the data they need at a fair and reasonable price. The data and services in these contracts will enable our Investment Professionals to make well-informed decisions for the benefit of our customers.
- Own assigned contracts lifecycle end-to-end, including managing contract terms, taking action prior to notice dates, engaging in renewal discussions and updating contract documents
- Collaborate with team members to ensure that data and research is acquired on a timely basis to meet investment professionals’ needs
- Partner with Vendor Relations Licensing & Legal Negotiations colleagues to ensure that legal, risk and regulatory issues are appropriately addressed in service agreements
- Build subject matter expertise in the market data and research products used by Fidelity, as well as their unique implementations across the Firm
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Experience managing contracts and/or vendor relationships preferred
- Proven ability to build strong relationships
- Experience leading team projects and procedures preferred
- Understanding of the financial services industry; familiarity with how third-party market data and research are used in a financial firm preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
- Effective storytelling and presentation skills
- Flexibility and high degree of comfort with ambiguity and complexity
- Ability to prioritize, set timelines and meet achievements
- Strong attention to detail and ability to exercise good judgement in all facets of work
The Team
Vendor Relations is a team of Vendor Managers, Contract Specialists and Lawyers that provide outstanding service, specializing in market data and research service relationships and negotiation strategies for the Firm. We are part of the larger Fidelity Fund and Investment Operations business unit supporting the acquisition, management, dissemination, and use of data across the Firm. In Vendor Relations, we collaborate with groups across Fidelity including finance, risk, legal and compliance along with numerous investment teams providing opportunities to expand your network and gain a better understanding of the business.
