Machine Shop Manager (Defense Industry exp. req.) Description

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Machine Shop Manager with a background in the defense industry to join their team in Newport News, VA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and motivating a team of machinists and technicians to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of high-quality machined components for defense-related products. You must have a background as a machinist working with CNC and manual mills and lathes and a passion for motivating a team to produce work of the highest quality standards. Machine Shop Manager (Defense Industry exp. req.) Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of machinists and technicians
• Ensure the timely and efficient delivery of high-quality machined components
• Collaborate to continuously improve machining strategies
• Ensure jobs meet all customer specifications and requirements
• Monitor production and adjust schedules, resources, and priorities
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Ensure compliance with all relevant quality, safety, and environmental regulations
• Administer performance evaluations and recommend annual merit increases
• Provide training and development opportunities
• Strive to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality

• 10+ years machine shop supervisory/management experience required
• Machinist (CNC mills and lathes) background required
• Defense industry experience required
