Job description
Employee participates in a variety of activities and operations in support of Library services; each position focuses on, but is not limited to, a particular area and employee will be cross-trained in other areas of the Library.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This position will work with the Executive Director, Office of Learning Support to establish and follow procedures related to library support.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives direct supervision from the Executive Director, Office of Learning Support.
- Further mission of Student Opportunities and Academic Resources by considering ways to enhance workflow in the areas of acquisitions, cataloging and front desk operations.
- Provide excellent customer service to library patrons, including instructing them in use of computers and library resources.
- Provide coverage to the Circulation Desk, aiding all Learning Support visitors
- Manage InterLibrary Loan services
- Assist the Library Liaison to the Career and College Promise Program as needed
- Assist with management of Social Media for the CVCC Library
- Create virtual and physical displays of library holdings
- Completes functions related to Circulation such as working with Library reserves, library overdues, and billing
Experience:
One year of library experience is required, preferably in an academic or public library.
Training:
Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science(AS); other two year degrees will be considered.
- Library automation systems (preferred).
- Academic or public library procedures.
Ability to:
- Maintain excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
- Deal tactfully and courteously with college stakeholders, college staff, students, and general public.
- Keep considerable discretion in handling confidential information and sensitive materials.
- Write and speak effectively.
- Commitment to the philosophy of this learning organization.
- Assume responsibilities with minimal supervision, exercise initiative, make decisions, and handle routine matters independently.
- Solid knowledge of PCs (desktops and laptops) and related software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Internet search engines, and email systems.
