Full-Time Communication Lecturer in Presentational Speaking (Academic Year Appointment)

The Brian Lamb School of Communication in the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University invites applications for a full-time, Academic Year (9 month) Lecturer position in Presentational Speaking and Science Communication. This position will begin in August 2023.
Requirements/Qualifications
Degree in Communication or related discipline, or equivalent experience; minimum three years experience teaching undergraduate classes in Presentational Speaking and Science Communication; evidence of teaching effectiveness; strong organizational skills; some teaching schedule flexibility based on needs of the School.
Principal Duties
The position of full-time Lecturer for the Brian Lamb School of Communication includes the following duties:
- Teach four sections each semester in the Brian Lamb School of Communication. The teaching assignment would be COM 114 and COM 217 (Fundamentals of Speech Communication and Science Communication).
- Teach learning community setions.
- Hold all assigned classes in accord with the university academic calendar.
- Hold three office hours each week.
- Develop appropriate course syllabi for assigned classes and report final grades for students in a timely fashion in accord with university policy.
- Show willingness to be flexible in course assignments and teaching times according to the School’s needs.
- Abide by all course policies for any course taught as provided by the relevant course supervisor.
- Attend all training and meetings as required by the course supervisor for a given course.
