Job Description Summary
This role is within the Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) Mechanical Design team, where you will be working on CMC components within the High-Pressure-Turbine (HPT) of the GE9X Commercial Turbofan Engine. The GE9X Engine has achieved type certification and is working towards entry-into-service.The Lead Engineer will be responsible for leading and supporting projects for CMC HPT hardware and/or interfacing metallic components. Tasks may include improving component durability, supporting product delivery, making changes related to part producibility, supporting engine testing, and providing input on fleet findings. The individual will be accountable for the quality of own their own work and will provide input to their own priorities. This role has some autonomy where focus on execution of activities is within standard practices and procedures. Some judgment on own ability required and may be reliant on guidance from their supervisor and technical mentors within the team.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
- Developing in-depth knowledge of turbine design and CMC design. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute outcomes. May include support or leading roles with specialized expertise or technical knowledge in adjacent areas like composites manufacturing, component testing, and material behavior.
- Applies in-depth knowledge of engineering principles acquired during past work experiences and education. Understands how work of own team contributes to the GE9X program, future jet engine designs, and CMC Integrated-Product-Team (IPT).
- Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters, using guidance from supervisor or mentors. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
- Clearly communicates technical information, provides informal guidance to other team members, asks questions, and checks for understanding.
- Collaborates with cross-functional team and presents outcomes to technical and business leaders.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Mechanical, Aerospace, or Materials Engineering from an accredited university/college
- Minimum of 3 years' engineering in related field.

- Master’s degree
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
- Established project management skills.
- Prior experience and technical knowledge with jet engine design, turbine design, or CMC design.
- General knowledge of composites manufacturing or analysis.
- Highly motivated to learn and passionate about working with new technologies.
- Experience with Computer Aided Design Software and/or FEA software (UG NX or Ansys).
- Experience working with engineering drawings and communicating design requirements to other teams.
