Job description
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Operates vehicles to transport equipment to and from job sites.
ROUTINE DUTIES:
- Year-round work is primarily in Denver, CO and surrounding areas.
- Drive Truck or Semi to transport equipment to and from job sites.
- Load and off load equipment and supplies.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
- Drive a Truck in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Maintains records of pickup and deliveries and obtains necessary signatures and receipts.
- Conduct Pre and Post trip trailer safety inspections noting any necessary repairs.
- Performs daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
- Inspects, cleans, and maintains Truck on a daily basis.
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.
- Frequent use of computers and other technology necessary to perform job duties, including handheld electronic equipment and software (GPS, and more).
- Maintains all required certifications in line with DOT, OSHA, and company policy.
- Accounts for all time and for all distance traveled in performing assigned duties.
- May need to maintain assigned trucks and related equipment in good condition.
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
- Report defects, accidents, or violations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or supervisor.
- Driving down time will be filled with yard maintenance & inventory.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to move trailers up to 52 feet in length quickly in tight conditions.
- 2+ years’ experience as semi-trailer truck operator.
- 2+ years hauling equipment preferred.
- Current State licensing with a CDL A or B.
- Clean driving record.
- Current CDL physical/CDL physical card.
- Ability and energy to work in a fast-paced environment.
- reliable transportation to work.
- Ability to work in all types of weather.
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.)
- Must be flexible with hours and shifts.
- Primarily a day shift position, however applicants must be willing to work extended hours.
- Working knowledge of yard tractor trailers and dollies in order to spot issues or potential problems.
- Ability to read and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and basic reasoning skills.
- Advanced mechanical skills are strongly preferred but not required.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to perform physical work to secure and load/unload the truck as needed.
- Position requires prolonged periods of standing/walking.
- May involve reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, climbing ladders, depth perception and color vision.
- Frequently lift/move up to 75lbs repeatedly.
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or equivalent
License/Certification:
