Job description
Our Marketing & Creative Services team is made up of inspired, creative, eager and talented minds who passionately grow the sport of hockey in Iowa. We are constantly learning, growing, and adapting to new technology and platforms to connect and engage with our fans. Our vision is to grow stronger together as a hockey community, connect with our fans and partners in a meaningful way, and entertain the state of Iowa with an exciting, professional, and innovative product. Our Promo Crew members play a key role in bringing that vision to life.
As our Community Events Intern, YOU:
- Take pride in entertaining our fans. Providing a memorable, entertaining experience for our fans, both new and old, is what keeps their support. Are you interested in creating those memories by executing a game plan that ensures a first-class entertainment experience? Working with the Community Relations & Mascot Coordinator and the rest of the marketing team, you will assist in the promotion of the Iowa Wild at various community events.
- Are a proud and dedicated community soldier. Summer events in Des Moines can take place throughout the weekends, weeknights, or both! And wherever the people are, that is where we want to be! People see you as helpful, someone who listens and anticipates our communities’ needs and desires. You solve problems before anyone even knows they’re there with a solution that is greater than their expectations could ever be. You and your teammates will execute the entire set up and tear down of community events, creating an approachable and fun atmosphere for attendees to remember.
- Brand Ambassador. You constantly engage event-goers out in the community, welcoming conversations with current and prospective fans regardless of age. You inform fans on all things Iowa Wild including ticket packages, player news, upcoming events, and more! For any questions you are uncertain of, you are relentless in your quest to get the answer quickly by asking questions to those around you and your leader.
- Are a team player. Every member of the Iowa Wild staff wears many hats, and you love collecting hats. You may find yourself instructing kids on how to hold a hockey stick during a street hockey event, selling season tickets to a prospective fan, or becoming our mascot, Crash himself, while attending a charity walk event. The experience you can gain depends on how much you want to learn!
YOU ARE A:
- Face of the Franchise. Timely, professional, and courteous are ingrained in your being. You represent the Iowa Wild through various events in Central Iowa. There will always be a smile on your face and your body language is always inviting of conversation and connection.
- Pillar of our Community Efforts. Being impactful in the Central Iowa community has been a huge part of the Iowa Wild brand since the team’s inception in 2013. With your assistance, the Wild organization will continue to leave a positive mark on those they cross paths with, whether virtually, or in person at a variety of events. Your hard work fulfilling donation requests and attending events will better connect the organization with community leaders and grow the relationship between the team and its biggest supporters!
- Cultural Centerpiece. Your interaction with our employees, fans and community is constant. Day or night, weekday or weekend, connections matter. People see you as a supportive resource and a critical part of our team and the Iowa Wild’s culture and brand. You thrive on interactions within our community, sharing our customer benefit programs and promoting the sport of hockey. You present the best version of yourself and our brand, both on and off the ice. Approaching this job requires the time, flexibility and willingness to communicate, collaborate, and understand that the different gears of our organization work together as one to produce results. Early weekend mornings at the farmer’s markets and late Saturday nights at festivals and fairs will become part of your routine.

- Challenge you. We promise you'll be surrounded by people equally committed to the Iowa Wild and producing a product that is the best in the state of Iowa, the AHL, and all of hockey. You won’t find more passionate people all focused on growing the sport. Go Wild!
