Instrumentation and Controls Specialist

Working with IT resources, this individual will be accountable for designing, developing, installing, managing and maintaining the instrumentation and controls systems within the plant.
In this role, you will get to:
- Modify, maintain, and deploy new PLC, Motion, and HMI applications.
- Modify, maintain and deploy new thin clients and other hardware, including I/O networks as required working in conjunction with IT resources.
- Modify and maintain database tables, views, functions and stored procedures.
- Develop and maintain electrical drawings to ensure current and accurate documentation of the plant’s electrical and controls systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical and controls problems within new and existing systems as well as plant floor instrumentation.
- Provide troubleshooting help and guidance to the plant’s maintenance department as required.
- Participate in continuous improvement, bringing PLC experience to bear in driving line and overall facility efficiency.
- Assist in the development of a technical training program for the maintenance department in the areas of process controls, electrical systems, and instrumentation.
- Facilitate data collection and systems interactions between tools such as ERP, OEE and other analytical resources.
- Support maintenance operations, when necessary, in the execution of corrective and preventive maintenance.

- Ability to effectively present information to management.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment: Fast-paced general plant environment. Some stress may occur. Regular travel is not expected in this position. Frequent exposure to adverse conditions such as dust, noise, fumes, weather, poor lighting, or heavy equipment/machinery.
