The role of the Senior Technical Writer for Operator Manuals and Support Documents requires extensive involvement in creating service content that supports our network of dealers, internal teams, and customers. This content is integral to service technician manuals, user guides, operator manuals, technical training, and service bulletins for our dealer network and customers.

To qualify for this position, candidates must have experience in the heavy equipment, trucking, or automotive service industry. They should have excellent communication, writing, editing, and time management skills.

The Key Responsibilities:

• Conducting research, interviewing stakeholders, writing documents, validating content, and editing work for publication
• Independently gathering information from technical and non-technical Subject Matter Experts to organize, develop, and write technical service content
• Interpreting various source information that may include procedural mark-ups, engineering drawings, parts lists, draft assembly, and maintenance instructions
• Adhering to the Navistar style guidelines and standards of accuracy
• Adapting to production and environmental changes and editorial processes
• Meeting deadlines, monitoring and assessing performance within deadlines, and utilizing resources appropriately to ensure accurate and timely deliverables
• Multitasking, prioritizing tasks, and interfacing with different personalities
• Communicating effectively and explaining complex engineering concepts at an appropriate audience level
• Developing draft illustrations to support procedural/descriptive text using model files or existing artwork

Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree
• A minimum of 2 years' experience in technical writing/editing, circuit diagram development, or technical illustration

OR

• A Master’s degree

OR

• A minimum of 4 years' experience in technical writing/editing, circuit diagram development, or technical illustration
