Raystown Developmental Services - Family Services Program in Huntingdon County is currently accepting applications from enthusiastic individuals with a desire to help children and families in their community.
SUMMARY
An Independent Living Coordinator functions as a caseworker in the Independent Living (IL) Program. This position works with children ages 14 to 21 and assists them in learning the skills they need to thrive as they enter adulthood. This is done on a 1:1 bases and in groups. Skills such as cooking, shopping, laundry and applying to colleges are just a few of the areas addressed. Typical hours are M-F, 8am to 4:30pm with some evenings as needed for group activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Initiate contact with youth who are referred for services within one week of referral.
Develop a plan for ongoing contact with each youth, either monthly or quarterly dependent on the youth need and placement type/location.
Have youth complete assessment and assist in developing Independent Living Goal plans within one month after first contact.
Review Independent Living plans with each youth quarterly.
Prepare and complete required documentation, including case notes, court reports etc., in compliance with regulations, company standards and the policy and procedure manual.
Be available and prepared to provide court testimony in a professional manner as scheduled. Maintain contact with interested parties (lawyers, judges) as necessary.
Prepare quarterly reports and attend quarterly review meetings with county agencies.
Schedule, plan, and complete group activities based on participating youth need and availability.
Effectively communicate with supervisors/managers, individuals, family members, referral sources, and other interested parties.
OTHER DUTIES

Attend 24 hours of job-specific training per year.
Complete all corporate-required online training.
Maintain and update the required online calendar.
Complete both internal and external surveys based on individual program policies and procedures.
Maintain good working relationships with private and public agencies.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment varies and is largely community-based and can vary from office settings to facility-based settings and at times residential homes. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Adhere to the dress code outlined in the policy and procedure manual.
TRAVEL
This position requires some local travel and occasional of town travel
The position requires a valid Pennsylvania license.
The position requires staff to drive and transport clients in both agency-owned and personal vehicles.
Properly load and unload individuals to/from vehicles.
Follow vehicle safety guidelines, as defined by state regulation and company policy, at all times.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; OR
Bachelor’s Degree in an unrelated field with a minimum of 12 credits in a Human Service-related course; i.e., psychology, sociology, counseling, etc.
1-year related experience/training in working with children and families preferred
