Housing Supervisor (GFPC 1, TRIO Upward Bound)
Job description
The home campus for this position is Bloomsburg.
7 week live-in commitment. Oversee all aspects of residence hall experience for approximately 30-50 high school students. Supervise undergraduate student staff, facilitate groups, teach classes in chosen field, and conduct weekly meetings. Act as liaison for students and staff to faculty and administration.
Duties
- Share in the overall supervision and leadership to a paraprofessional staff of approx. 5 tutor mentors, 1 residence hall receptionists and 30-50 high school students.
- Enforce policy and procedure manual in regard to student well-being and residential community living. Inspect the hall for existence of hazards endangering life and property and the good order of the University. Make recommendations for the prevention of accidents and violations of order.
- Maintain a high level of contact hours with staff, students and parents/guardians through visibility and availability.
- Lead one or two classes based on area(s) of interest and facilitate a living learning team.
- Assist in the implementation of evening programming to encourage staff involvement and student interest.
- Assist in the management/mediation of student and staff conflicts, issues and concerns.
- Assist in tutoring students and monitoring structured study sessions.
- Share point of contact duty with Head Tutor Mentor. Communicate and document issues through the appropriate chain of command.
- Conduct weekly staff and student meetings for information distribution, input, support, accountability, training and problem resolution.
- Attend weekly faculty meetings and serve as a communication link between the residential and classroom environments.
- Serve as a chaperone on off-campus trips.
- Complete staff and student evaluations at close of program.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required by the time of employment.
Master’s degree preferred in Counseling, Education, Psychology, Social Work, Student Personnel or related field.
