Role Overview

We are looking for:

  • The Alpharetta site is a materials research & innovation facility which includes laboratories, processing areas, a pilot plant, and a maintenance department.
  • The HSE Specialist is responsible for managing industrial hygiene programs for all areas of the site.
  • This position will report to the HSE Manager and will be based in Alpharetta.
  • This role will focus on industrial hygiene programs, but will also have Safety and Environmental responsibilities within the site.

We count on you for:

  • Lead the Industrial Hygiene program including chemical risk assessments and exposure monitoring, respiratory protection and hearing conservation programs, etc.
  • Manage the site chemical inventory to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure that the company complies with all federal, state and local legislated regulations.
  • Develop and ensure Solvay North America environmental, safety, and health procedures are implemented.
  • Drive continuous improvement of health and safety programs.
  • Participate on the facility’s site safety council, Emergency Response Team and lead other committees as needed.
  • Develop and provide safety and health training to facility employees and contractors and maintain records and other related documentation in association with this training.
  • Participate in site Management of Change processes.
  • Perform daily / routine field observations to identify unsafe conditions, at-risk behaviors, and environmental issues.
  • Lead incident investigations, develop and track corrective actions
  • Provide necessary support to maintain site RCMS certification.

You will bring:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Public Health, or other scientific field with any combination of coursework in chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience, preferably in a laboratory or chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred
  • Experience working within a HSE Management System, RCMS preferred.
  • Effective training content development and delivery
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to work well within all levels of the organization
  • Ability to manage and organize data
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Collaborative and solution focused.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to change.
  • Willingness to accept, and put feedback into action

  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $80,539 to $100,674 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
