Description
Caterpillar is seeking a Group Product Manager for Common Services to join the Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies group. We develop machine control products that use site design information combined with positioning technology to semi-automatically control machines. These products are used in a range of applications where the operator of the machine benefits from having accurate horizontal and vertical guidance, through the use of sophisticated yet user-centric technology.
As a Group Product Manager, you will guide and mold the Common Services product vision by utilizing your proven ability to prioritize and execute initiatives to enable product teams to better solve problems for our customers. Reporting to this position are various levels of Product Managers and support personnel in various geographic locations.
Job Duties
- Discover, organize and translate market opportunities and requirements into product development artifacts for our engineering team, enabling our developers to design and deliver timely solutions for our customers.
- Define and prove out a framework that ties together a reference architecture and the subcomponents in a way that allows flexibility in the go to market strategy.
- Establish commonality and communities of practice for commissioning, cybersecurity, supportability, simulation, analytics, safety enablement, and regulatory compliance.
- Understand the grade control platform, the platform environments, and the cross-functional teams that need to come together to differentiate our solutions in the market.
- Lead multiple teams and projects, drive initiatives, and ensure our growing portfolio of products enables the business to be as successful as possible.
- Find purpose in solving the most nuanced machine control challenges to unlock greater performance and productivity for our construction industry customers.
- Collaborate to identify the user experience requirements for the platform and the developer program.
- Develop strong relationships and collaborate effectively with cross-functional core platform teams and development teams.
- Guide the adoption of goals alignment and use of a dashboard to track and measure success.
- Foster a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation from discovery through delivery in partnership with engineering and user experience leaders.
- Mentor junior members of the product team and coach the product team to reach goals and achieve deliverables.
- Present product updates and strategies to large groups and stakeholders.
- Stay current with industry trends and market insights to inform product strategy.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant degree.
- 5+ years of software development, platform development, user experience, or product management experience.
Top Candidates will also have
- Strong background in construction industry technology and workflows.
- Experience leading product teams to build and execute the product vision and strategy, utilizing key data and market insights.
- Proficiency in prioritizing and executing commercial activities such as pricing, marketing, and portfolio success monitoring to drive growth.
- Ability to communicate the product vision and strategy to stakeholders, both internally and externally.
Additional Information
The primary location for this position is Westminster, CO with additional locations in Mossville, IL and Dayton, OH.
Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.
This position will require up to 15% travel.

Summary Pay Range:
$136,488.00 - $204,732.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
