Position: Project Manager Geotechnical
Location: San Antonio, Texas Metropolitan Area

The San Antonio Geotechnical Engineering Project Manager will be the project manager of the greater San Antonio geotechnical engineering service department for this service line in the greater San Antonio region including the San Antonio/Austin IH-35 Corridor. The Project Manager’s responsibilities encompass managing project engineers and assisting in growing and effectively conducting Our Client’s geotechnical engineering business in the greater San Antonio region. These responsibilities include preparing scopes of work and proposals, acting as the project manager for geotechnical projects performed by the project engineers, will have the profit and loss (P&L) responsibilities for the projects that they manage, developing new and enhancing existing relationships with clients, and influencers and maintaining accurate project records and files and following firms established protocols.
Employee shall have the following minimum duties and responsibilities:
Serve as Project Manager on assigned geotechnical engineering projects to ensure reports are technically correct, and budgets and schedules are met.
Direct and supervise field-logging activities if engineering supervision is required during drilling operations.
Coordinate drilling activities with subcontractors and our client field staff.
Oversee the classification of soil samples in the laboratory.
Oversee laboratory-testing assignments on projects in accordance with the testing program established in the proposal.
Analyze field data, and laboratory test results and perform calculations necessary for completion of engineering reports.
Coordinate preparation of geotechnical engineering reports for review and determine the quality of final reports.
Shared responsibility to coordinate, as required, with other divisions or consultants for project support.
May be required to support CoMET Operations in the field during construction.
Has shared responsibility to coordinate, as required, with other divisions or consultants for project support.
Monitor product quality, design, and technology to ensure consistency with contractual agreements and firm-established protocols.
Provide input to the Profit Center Leader to whom, why, and amount of discretionary bonuses are to be distributed in the Geotechnical Engineering Department.
Understand, adhere to, and participate in the Our Client’s Health and Safety and Behavior Based Safety Programs and set a good safety example.
Communicate with clients regarding schedules, project milestones, scope creep, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Employees shall possess the following minimum qualifications:
Professional Engineers license for the State of Texas. Hold an accredited bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of combined relevant Construction/Geotechnical Engineering, or a Master's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of appropriate Geotechnical Engineering experience.
Experience with: Expansive soil and heave prediction. Shallow and deep foundations, and over-consolidated clays. Global stability analyses and evaluations. Local geology. Pavement section design (public and private). Large breadth of projects ranging from small single-story structures to mid- to high-rise level construction. Horizontal Civil Works projects including pipeline and transportation/infrastructure projects.
Written and oral communication skills to effectively interact with clients and staff successfully. Clarity and understanding are a high priority to prevent costly and time-consuming errors.
Good writing skills for preparing proposals, reports, and other engineering documents.
Organizational skills to utilize company resources efficiently and effectively.
Shall possess a valid Texas driver’s license and meet the firm’s auto insurability requirements. and have the ability to drive a company vehicle
Distinguish color and shades of color for identification and analysis.
Lift and carry 45+ pounds including, but not limited to tools, sample containers, and equipment.
Ability to travel to project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
