POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the Athletic Director, the Division Head, and the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach, the F/S Boys Basketball Coach provides leadership, direction, and supports the boys basketball program where needed. The F/S Boys Basketball Coach must adhere to Milken Community School rules and regulations. The F/S Boys Basketball Coach must support the student-athlete concept and demonstrate concern for the health, safety, and welfare of each student-athlete. The F/S Boys Basketball Coach must support, encourage, and monitor student-athletes academic progress.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Instruct players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
  • Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities/exercises.
  • Assess players skills and monitor players during competition and practice.
  • Assist with determining game strategy.
  • Supervise athletes during practices and competition.
  • Model sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
  • Maintain the equipment room in orderly condition and assume responsibility for its security.
  • Submit a list of award winners at the end of the season.
  • Participate in special activities to include parents night, banquets, and award nights.
  • Perform support tasks such as maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors degree and at least three years of basketball coaching experience.
  • Experience with student programs in a high school setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the specified sports program.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
SALARY RANGE: $5,000
