Job description
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree Preferred, Teaching Experience, Administrative Experience, Valid Administrator’s License in Indiana
- Superintendent's license preferred
- Demonstrated successful leadership in a senior admin position in a public or charter school and working with a board of directors
- Strong communication skills, ability to work collaboratively with staff
- Positive, solution focused individual with growth mindset
- Experienced success in encouraging parental involvement
- Preferred experience in middle school
- Must be able to reliably commute or planning to relocate to the Northwest Indiana area prior to starting work (required)
- Demonstrate a track record of fiscal responsibility
- Ability to interpret financial reports
- Preferred experience in special education
Responsibilities/Duties Include, but not limited to:
- Serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the board and is responsible for the implementation of boards policy and carrying out its direction
- Pursue the vision and execute the mission of Discovery
- Oversee all finances for Discovery
- Complete, submit and explore all grants for the district
- Work along with the business manager on timely submissions of financial reporting such as audits, Form 9, EOY reports, etc.
- Responsible for curriculum meeting and exceeding board expectations in reference to not only testing standards but by incorporating our mission and vision
- Supervise and observe all instructional practices in the school, including coaching and mentoring directly or through other staff and/or professional development programs
- Ensure the highest quality educational experience for all students
- Adhere to board policies and guidelines, rules, regulations, state and federal requirements
- Delegate authority to staff members but at all times has the final responsibility for carrying out the mandates of the board
- Responsible for the overall operation of the school, instructional program and management of personnel
- Is aware and tracks state and national education developments and reports these to the board
- Participate with appropriate professional associations, attends conferences, workshops and other professional development opportunities to upgrade their professional knowledge and qualifications
- Implement the comprehensive strategic plan and meets annual goals
- Identify needs and reports them to the board
- Work with principal to complete teacher and staff evaluations
- Evaluate principal, office manager, grounds engineer, school RN, office administration
- Lead marketing and development committee
- Implement, support and lobby for capital campaigns, as developed in conjunction with board
- Serve as state standardized testing coordinator
- Gather and collects testing data to share with board and principal
- Oversee all facilities
- Work with principal and board on revising parent/student handbook, school policies and procedures annually
- Oversee submission of documents to Ball State University
- Oversee charter renewal progress and documentation
- Maintain a good working relationship with Ball State University utilizing routine check ins/visits
- Meet at least bi-weekly with admin team to discuss school matters
- Oversee all employment agreements and independent contractors
- Oversee gathering of quotes for purchases or projects and makes formal recommendations to the board of directors
- Coordinate all building maintenance/repairs after board approval
- Create and shares monthly board report
- Support all Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives including implementing an annual staff training
- Provide support and direction to Principal in regards to curriculum and instruction development
- Oversee technology equipment, infrastructure and support
- Seek and grow relationships with community partnerships to support the students and families
- Represent Discovery at public events
- All other duties as assigned

Pay: $95,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
