As an Environmental Sustainability Engineer, you will apply applicable regulatory requirements to compile and analyze sustainability data and practices. You will work to evaluate the impacts of our operations on the environment while ensuring economic and social sustainability.
Environmental Expertise
You have a strong knowledge of environmental science, sustainability principles, and relevant laws and regulations. You will conduct research to stay up to date on new sustainability reporting requirements and incorporate these into analysis and practices. You will assist in preparation of environmental permit applications and reports.
Engineering Skills
You should be familiar with engineering principles and have the ability to apply them to understand manufacturing processes and provide sustainable solutions. You will perform development, analysis, evaluation, testing, and troubleshooting. Coincidingly, you will develop, qualify, and update environmental documents, and reports.
Analytical Thinking
You should have excellent problem-solving skills to identify environmental issues, analyze data, and develop effective solutions. You will identify and advice on implementation strategies to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, such as renewable energy technologies and energy-efficient designs Also, you will identify sustainable manufacturing practices, such as reducing waste and pollution and using environmentally friendly materials.
Collaboration
You will collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure sustainability principles incorporated into projects and designs. You will communicate complect technical concepts to stakeholders with diverse backgrounds, including non-technical audiences, in a clear and concise manner.
Performance Objectives
Within your first 6 months, you will be responsible for learning about our company, contributing to various projects and leading project management initiatives.
During your first 30 days, you will:
- Learn about Applied’s mission and vision and take part in a variety of Applied Learning foundational courses
- Discuss your goals and expectations with your team leaders and read and review all relevant team resources and materials
- Immerse yourself in team meetings and discussions
Within 60 days, you will:
- Exhibit a strong technical understanding of the manufacturing processes and projects
- Support team meetings and agendas
- Take on one or more projects that require low to moderate guidance
- Be familiar with Applied Medical’s operations and select processes
- Learn and understand applicable internal procedures
Within 90 days to 1 year, you will:
- Develop interpersonal connections and relationships with others to effectively accomplish project objectives and deliverables
- Lead moderate to complex projects with minimal guidance or direction
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of Applied Medical's Quality Management System (QMS) and effectively troubleshoot challenges or obstacles that may affect project timelines
- Manage a variety of projects on your own
Position Requirements:This position requires the following skills and attributes:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or equivalent engineering experience
- Understanding of technical reasoning and manufacturing processes
- Learn new processes and control procedures
- Work effectively in a team environment
- Demonstrate verbal and written analytical and problem-solving, communication, multi-tasking, and people skills
- Demonstrate computer skills, including spreadsheets and word processing
Preferred:This position prefers the following skills and attributes:
- Experience in manufacturing processes and regulatory compliance
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Visio and Project
- Experience in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, including Systems, Applications & Products in Data Processing (SAP) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
Inside This Business Group
The Environmental Sustainability and Engineering (ESE) team evaluates environmental regulatory requirements and potential environmental impacts, analyses sustainability data, and provides support to other departments with respect to chemical and waste handling. The team consists of Environmental and Chemical Engineers and Technicians who support and work collaboratively with other groups including Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Calibration and Maintenance, Quality and Regulatory.
Benefits: The base compensation range for this role is $75,000 - $90,000 / year for the position in California. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries in California based on the date of this job posting.
